New book: So That's Life: a collection of short stories.
New book: So That's Life: a collection of short stories is going to print. Hopefully this will be released by my publisher ASAP.
Also, while I am known as a short story writer, I have a first novel to come out soon. The manuscript is being reviewed at present. This is a spy thriller which will have the reader guessing; I do like my twists and turns?

Third book will be out early 2015
Hi,
I have just completed the last of thirty short stories for my third book. My book will now be edited and I hope to have it out in March 2015. This book has taken a little longer than expected with my original target date being late September 2014. Hence this blog has been very quiet over the last months, but you can join me at facebook where I am more active.
Ernest Hemingway once said "There is no rule on how to write. Sometimes it comes easily and perfectly; sometimes it is like drilling rock and then blasting it out with charges". This would tend to sum up my last year.
My new book will similarly to the previous two include both humour and thought provoking stories. Previous books: 'Moments in Time- a collection of short stories', reflected the Autumn in our lives, while 'Bumpy Roads- a collection of short stories', Winter. The new book theme is based around the Spring in our lives... light at the end of the tunnel?...maybe, but my stories have twists and turns and you can never be quite sure. Spring is after all a very unpredictable season!

Announcing my new book : Bumpy Roads-a collection of short stories
Fasten your seat belts and prepare to travel down the bumpy roads of life. 35 entertaining short stories based in 8 countries; some with humour and others thought provoking. Hold on tight as you approach the surprise twists and remember that most accidents are caused by the nut behind the wheel!
Following the earthquakes in my city of Christchurch, New Zealand , I started writing stories -some built around the earthquake and others based on overseas experiences. When the 6.3 quake hit on 22 February 2011, I was working in a building across the road from a 6 storey building which collapsed. Most of the people inside the collapsed building died. My first book 'Moments in Time-a collection of short stories', tells not only about the earthquake but has other stories many with humour and surprise twists. The overall theme of this book is that life is unpredictable, but there is light at the end of the tunnel; make the most of life. In Christchurch, we experienced over 10,000 earthquakes/aftershocks of over 6.3 Richter Scale and over a two year period, yet we learned to be resilient and move on. No matter how hard life can get, there is always hope.
'Bumpy Roads', similarly to 'Moments in Time', is both literal and figurative. Post earthquake, Christchurch, is characterised by bumpy roads resulting from liquefaction. Many people in Christchurch are journeying through bumpy times in their life as they battle with insurance companies, government etc. and try to get their lives back into order. 'Bumpy Roads', comprises 35 stories and is not just about Christchurch. There are stories based around my experiences in eight different countries. In April I returned from Japan and China, and have included three stories using these experiences. China was the first communist country I had visited, but it was not what I expected. Find out more in my book. This has only just come out and will soon be available worldwide. It has just been listed on Amazon.

This book is available electronically, and in soft and hard cover and from most Internet retailers, and free in a number of public libraries world-wide A new book is planned to be published close to the end of September. This will follow on from the first book but will include 35 stories- 5 of these from another writer.
WHAT ARE MY STORIES ABOUT?
My stories are simply short stories - many having surprise twists. These stories are largely about every day life- many being based on my experiences overseas though mostly fiction. I have recently returned from China and Japan and my new book will include stories based on these countries, plus stories based on experiences in New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe, France, Italy and England. "Moments in Time-a collection of short stories", comprises stories based in New Zealand, Australia, England, Scotland, Zambia, Thailand, and Switzerland. Many of these stories are humorous with surprise twists.
THE THEME
As a writer my stories are to entertain the reader, but also to promote thought. Each story is different but the over-riding theme of "Moments in Time-a collection of short stories", is that life is unpredictable but simply another chapter in our lives. Our life can be a bunch of roses or there can be earthquakes in our lives-but there is always hope.
MY INSPIRATION
At 12.51 on the 22nd of February 2011, Christchurch City, New Zealand rocked to a 6.3 Richter scale earthquake. This violent shaking came as an unwanted lunch-time surprise to workers, reducing much of the central business area to a pile of rubble. I was nearby when the six-storey CTV building collapsed entombing 113 occupants. That day people died, businesses collapsed and over 10,000 homes were destroyed. This was a moment in time- just another story in our lives. Tragic as this event may be, it marked the beginning of this book of short stories.
THE NEW BOOK-due out about September
My over-riding theme in the next book is about moving on. Life is here to enjoy. Let's look back, have a good laugh -even at those embarrassing times and move on to better things. What do you think?
